Patrick James' research interests focus on forests and forest ecology.  He has studied multi-scale forest disturbance dynamics including mountain pine beetle landscape genetics. His current research interests include spatial ecology, insect population dynamics, landscape genetics, disturbance interactions, spatial analysis, and sustainable forestry
