Shor tly thereafter\, a science paper detailing the genetic modification of non -viable human embryos was published in Protein and Cell. Following on this \, the First International Summit on Human Gene Editing was held in Decemb er 2015. Both somatic and germline genetic modification were on the agenda . Professor Baylis was a member of the Organizing Committee for this Summi t. The Third International Summit will be held in March 2023.
