He creates programs for functional MRI and advanced positron emissi on tomography (PET) to study the state of brain function in both healthy a nd pathological subjects. He comes to The Neuro from the Université de Mon tréal\, where he was associate director of the Functional Neuroimaging Uni t CRIUGM and an associate professor at the Institute of Biomedical Enginee ring.\n\nHoge earned degrees in physics from Carleton University (BSc Hono urs\, 1989) and from 91Ö±²¥ (MSc\, 1996)\, and received a PhD i n biomedical engineering also from 91Ö±²¥ in 1999.  He received further tr aining as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University\, where for five yea rs he was an instructor in radiology and assistant physicist in the Depart ment of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital..\n\nHis laboratory at The Neuro will study the impact of physiological changes\, both normal an d pathological\, that occur in the brain during the course of aging. His r esearch will involve use of one of the most powerful fMRI machines (7 tesl a) currently available.  His projects include creating innovative methods for imaging the delivery and consumption of oxygen in the brain.\n\nThe Fe indel Virtual Brain and Mind (VBM) Seminar Series will advance the vision of Dr. William Feindel (1918–2014)\, Former Director of the Neuro (1972–19 84)\, to constantly bridge the clinical and research realms. The talks wil l highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology\, cogni tive neuroscience\, and neuroimaging.\n\nSpeakers will include scientists from across The Neuro\, as well as colleagues and collaborators locally an d from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual forum for scientists and trainees to continue to foster interdisciplinary excha nges on the mechanisms\, diagnosis and treatment of brain and cognitive di sorders.\n DTSTART:20210512T200000Z DTEND:20210512T210000Z SUMMARY:POSTPONED - Feindel Virtual Brain and Mind Seminar URL:/neuro/channels/event/postponed-feindel-virtual-br ain-and-mind-seminar-326853 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
