Martha Crago is a Professor at 91直播, President of the Board of the Canadian Light Source, Vice President of the Board of the Fonds du Recherche du Quebec and a Trustee of the Board of the Canadian Museum of Nature. Previously, she was 91直播鈥檚 Vice-President (Research and Innovation) and Chair of the Governing Council of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). 鈥嶱rofessor Crago has also been the Vice Chair and then Chair of the Research Committee of the U15 group of Canada鈥檚 research-intensive universities as well as the Chair of the Comite de recherche du Bureau de Cooperation Interuniversitaire. She was also a member of the Research Partnership Committee of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and of the Senior Research Officers of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU). Over a 40-year period, she has served as a member of countless boards of university science projects and international, national and provincial committees and had a very productive career as a researcher and professor in the areas of child language development and socialization in a range of languages and learners. In 2016, the Minister of Science of Canada selected her to be a member of Canada鈥檚 Fundamental Science Review. Professor Crago was named a Chevalier dans l'ordre des palmes acad茅miques by the French government and, in 2017, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada. In 2020, she received the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, from the University of British Columbia in recognition of her work in advancing university research and learning in Canada and beyond. On March 22, 2022, Professor Crago was presented with the Knight鈥檚 Cross of the Order of Merit by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesverdienstorden).
