Editorial Guidelines & Submission Policies for Resource Inclusion

Overview:
The Gateway to Digital Health is designed to provide high-quality, reusable digital resources to the scientific and research community. The following editorial policies ensure that all listed resources are enduring, accessible, and broadly applicable.

General Criteria for All Submissions:
• Resources must be relevant to the biomedical research community and offer value to a broad user base.
• Resources must be openly accessible or have clearly described access procedures.
• Submissions must include accurate metadata (e.g., title, description, hosting organization, contact, access links).
• Submissions may be edited for clarity, formatting, and consistency before publication.
• While resources emanating from research labs are encouraged, entire research labs should not be listed per se.

For Datasets and Toolboxes:
To be included in the directory, datasets and associated toolboxes must meet the following criteria:
• Not Linked to a Single Study:
Submissions cannot be derived solely from or limited to a single research study. Resources must have broader relevance and utility
• Must Be Associated with a Recognized Data Repository:
All datasets and toolboxes must be linked to an established databank or biobank that ensures:
i) Long-term stewardship of the data.
ii) Clear data governance and access policies.
iii) Evidence of active maintenance and updates.
• Persistent Identifiers:
Wherever possible, provide persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs) for datasets and tools.

For Courses and Training Resources:
To be included, courses must meet the following criteria:
• Regularly Offered:
Courses must be part of a recurring program (e.g., annually, bi-annually, or ongoing registration). One-time or expired courses will not be accepted.
• Clear Access Information:
Submissions must include:
i) Registration links or contact details.
ii) Course schedule or expected frequency of offering.
iii) Prerequisites and intended audience.
• Institutional Affiliation:
Courses should be affiliated with a recognized academic, research, or training institution.

Exclusions:
The following are not eligible for inclusion:
• Resources created solely for one-time use or tied to a single study without broader relevance.
• Resources without a stable host (e.g., personal websites or non-maintained links).
• Courses that have no future offering dates or are not tied to an established training program.

Review & Maintenance:
• All entries are reviewed by the editorial team prior to publication.
• Entries may be updated or removed if they become inactive, inaccessible, or fail to meet the ongoing inclusion criteria.
• Users are encouraged to report outdated or broken links.
