STM strike begins September 22

Dear members of the 91Ö±²¥ community,

The STM has announced an 8-day maintenance workers’ strike from Monday, September 22 to Sunday, October 5.

Consult the STM’s website

During this time, bus and metro schedules will be restricted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For the most up-to-date information regarding impacts and schedules for the Metro, bus and paratransit services during the strike please consult the .

STM officials anticipate that transit commute times will be longer, and traffic is likely to be impacted. Given these circumstances, we understand that commuting to campus may become challenging for members of our community.

Be flexible and collaborate on solutions

Employees who anticipate difficulties are encouraged to inform their immediate supervisor to explore potential arrangements. Supervisors are urged to promote flexibility to find solutions that meet both parties' needs – for example, measures such as greater flexibility in work schedules, or more flexibility in choosing on-site days. In the case of staff who are eligible for a Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA), telecommuting beyond our usual guidelines may be considered.

Share teaching and learning issues as early as possible

Similarly, academic leaders are encouraged to show flexibility with instructors and their teaching, and flexibility with students who may be impacted. Students should flag, as early as possible, any accommodations that might be needed or issues otherwise arising as a result of STM service disruption.

Thank you for your cooperation.
